Maintain a Bright Smile With Regular Care

How Often is the Right Frequency for Your Dental Checkup?

Many of our patients ask how often they need to visit our office for routine dental care. It's a valid question because people often think of going to the doctor or dentist only when they’re experiencing discomfort or have a specific health issue. However, dental visits are a bit different. We prefer to see you when you're not experiencing any problems to help keep it that way.

Plaque and bacteria build up on your teeth without immediate signs or discomfort. If left unchecked, they can lead to cavities and gum disease. Small cavities, for instance, might not cause pain right away, which makes it challenging to monitor the health of your teeth at home. This is why we recommend visiting our office twice a year. We can examine your teeth, catch any problems early, and treat them before they become more serious. During these visits, our team will also clean your teeth to help prevent gum disease and infections.

Why Everyone Should Visit the Dentist Regularly?

At Ascension Smiles Family Dentistry, we recommend that everyone, regardless of age, visit the dentist at least twice a year. From toddlers to seniors, regular dental check-ups are essential for maintaining good oral health. Even young children are susceptible to dental issues like baby bottle tooth decay, which can affect two-year-olds who often take a bottle or juice to bed. On the other hand, seniors, including those with dentures, also need to visit the dentist to monitor gum health and ensure dentures fit properly. Tooth loss can cause the jawbone to change, leading to uncomfortable or poorly fitting dentures. Routine dental visits are vital for all age groups to prevent dental issues and maintain healthy gums, teeth, and dentures.
